I have an issue with gsoc dates so I am not completely sure if I should apply to gsoc. Still I would like to get feedback on my proposal and even if I don't get into gsoc I would like to do the development (so if somebody is willing to mentor me for the project anyway it would be gerat!). The basic idea is to allow the packagers to have a 'language'/api to modify config files in a non intrusive way. Having the ability to store previous configurations and prompting the user for aproval when needed. This should all be done very simple for both packagers (a powerful but easy to use set of functions) and user (good gui and cli interfaces). More on the project can be found in http://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/playground/vynil/proposal.pdf Hope to hear from you soon =) On Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 5:58 PM, S.?a?lar Onur wrote: > Hi Nicolas; > > 20 Mar 2008 Per tarihinde, Nicolas Lara ?unlar? yazm??t?: > > > Hello, > > Almost a year ago I proposed a config management system as an addition > > to Pardus. I have a questions about the scope of the project. In order to add digital signing mechanism to pisi, a signing infrastructure should be established. I mean, some functionalities such as random number generators, key pair generators, primality test, domain parameter generators ...etc should be implemented. I couldn't decide whether the aim of the project is to establish an infrastructure and integrate this to pisi or integrate an existing signing mechanism(gpg) to pisi. Which option is more suitable for a gsoc project? thanks in advance, yavuz -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We are not trying to reinvent anything. We just would like to have signing capability for pisi packages and repositories. So definitely gpg option is suitable. You should examine how rpm and dpkg does signing, than you would get an idea. Message-ID: <47EDFB5D.8050108@xs4all.nl> Yesterday for the third or fourth time I ran into this annoying KDE<--->CUPS bug in that my printer that used to work fine, no longer reacts on print jobs (these stayed queued) and 127.0.0.1:631 gives a 404 not found error instead of CUPS config page. The previous times I could only solve this problem by re-installing my whole Pardus OS. However now I was up and running again and had already finetuned my Pardus, I do not want to re-install it agaian. Is there a quick solution for this remaining bug? I noticed after a Google search that it is a more general problem already since 2006! KDEPrint is not mutually compatible with newer versions of CUPS and KDEPrint as a project is not maintained very intense anymore. This then is a major issue for all KDE Linux distro's I guess. Now "we" are working on Pardus 2008, wouldn't it be usefull to implement a TASMA configuration part based on the CUPS API itself instead of based at the KDEPrint thing? The latter lacks compatability. Maybe a nice idea for the Google Summer of Code contest? Building a new and compatible CUPS API interface for KDE distro's? KDEPrint on KDE-3.x will break with CUPS-1.2 (or with 1.3 at the latest)!"[/url] From gokmen at pardus.org.tr Sat Mar 29 12:05:46 2008 From: gokmen at pardus.org.tr (=?utf-8?q?G=C3=B6kmen_G=C3=96KSEL?=) Date: Sat, 29 Mar 2008 12:05:46 +0200 Subject: [Gsoc] GSOC 2008 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <200803291205.50758.gokmen@pardus.org.tr> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 28 Mar 2008 Cum tarihinde, Mali Ozbay ?unlar? yazm??t?: > Merhabalar, Selamlar, > Eger basvuruya hala acik fikirlerin listsine ulasabilirsem bu konularda > calisma sansimi gorebilir ve guclendirebilirim.
