Hello,
I was just thinking about wether it would be a good idea for a DVD
edition of Pardus? My main idea would be to include both the live CD
and the install CD on one DVD, rather than two separate Cd's. At the
GRUB screen the user could choose the mode they wish to boot (live CD
or Install) in the same manor as the Freespire Cd's work.
If possible all the kde localizations could be included. At the
moment the installer installer English (US), but I am British so I
need English (GB), perhaps the installer could be modified to allow
the selection of localizations and the appropriate kde languages
installed.
My second idea is that an more extensive package list could be
available. I don't know how big the entire stable repository is, but
if it is small enough, the entire stable repository could be included
on the DVD. To me this seems appropriate given that the Stable
repository is only small and is not constantlyinundated with updates.
A third idea is to include a lighter version possibly. XFCE could be
moved from contrib to stable and be offered as a lighter version than
KDE. Of course this would pose problems as all the tool as written
with PyKDE (I think, dint hold me to that), so other then switching
them to Put or re-writing them in PyGTK I have no idea how to solve
the problem.
Any way, these are just my opinions, I know I only add the occasional
package to contrib and maintain a small set of packages in contrib, so
I don't have any influence or place within the project, but these are
my suggestions and I figured you may like to know them and may take
them on board.
All the best,
Michael (tuxedup)
