[Pardus-devel] using pardus

Hi Pardus user and developer,

I would like to tell some comments about my use of pardus (2007 kurulan)
until now.
Since on the live CD i had some trouble using the administration tools,
PISI especially, I considered to install Pardus kurulan in a spare ext3
partition, and after some testruns erase it again to play Zenwalk over it.
However i like Pardus, and i am still using it, in fact i am thinking of
keeping it running here  ;) .

When installing i was really impressed about the nice looking
install-interface. Also the interface for partitioning was very simple but
apparently very well done. I selected spanish as main language, other languages
german and english (i don't remember if turkish too).
In fact i was suprised to find KDE in spanish, very nice.
Although there are still some apps which i don't know what they are for:
KNazar, Yakuake, Zemberek,

About the aplications, maybe to include in the PISI-pool or the next distro:
- I am missing some app for financial (grisby, gnucash, or similar)
- and maybe something for project (ganttproject or similar)
- and maybe some nice backup tool ? (to use pardus at my job they would
check/require this item..)
- - and i would wish some special stuff too like notecase (see
sourceforge.net, or Wolvix.org) but haven't tried it now, i don't know
what its requirements are, or treepad (not opensource, but free)
- - and i found a practical small helper fslint
http://www.pixelbeat.org/fslint/fslint-2.18.tar.gz, which can find
duplicate files, to delete them or do whatever.. it is just a (bunch of)
Python script  ;)

It took me some time to let KDE show me some alternative keyboard layouts,
so now i can quick-choose between latinamerican, us english, german,
turkish q.
I don't know if this new kde-setting is causing the "problem"..

Now when i use PISI, to update or install some additional stuff, when
asked to confirm de download for the basket its message comes up in
german.
The network-applet the taskbar also shows its right-click menu in german,
however when the list of connection elements pops up (to change network
configuration) everything is ok in spanish so far. however when i choose
modify configuration for a network interface (in my case only one), some
of the texts in the settings window are in german, others in spanish.
I think, the reason i might be myself, because i haven't obviously
completed all the translation to spanish (or it didn't arrive in time on
the site..). but anyway it would be nice if the "fallback"-language would
be english. i think english would be better and universal, than another
foreign language. IMHO
ok, i should fix the language file, but maybe someone could fix the
fallback-language setting ??

could you put some help somewhere about the package management ?
Is there a way to get rpm or tgz (slack) packages working ? Any way to
convert ?
- and: (.. ok, i think PISI has an option to generate PISI packages, i
should go read this part..)
- and: is there a possibility you could advise the users if there are
additional (mirror) PISI repositories available ? - so i could configure
it in the PISI app. just for backup, if Your server is down for some time
/ for some reason...
