Hello, Everyone:
I am the author of "Rethinking the Linux Distribution" on O'Reilly
ONLamp. A few days ago, I had the pleasure of discussing this topic
with you on IRC.
Thanks for posting the link to the article on your site.
Unfortunately, the discussion on Slashdot is not very relevant,
because the people commenting there did not read the actual article --
only the Slashdot summary. This is a known problem on Slashdot, which
often leads to poor comment quality.
The problem is particularly acute for articles such as "Rethinking the
Linux Distribution". The topic is much deeper than it first appears,
which is why the article is about 5,000 words long, with over 60
references to external materials -- including Pardus, of course :-) A
150-word Slashdot summary is great for bringing the work to the
reader's attention, but the summary alone cannot form the basis of any
meaningful discussion.
There is, however, a good conversation in progress, right in the
O'Reilly comment section for the article. The people posting there
have mostly read the work itself, which opens the possibility of
informed debate. Already, there are a few interesting arguments and
suggestions.
So, it would be great if you could change the link on your site to
point to O'Reilly's comment section instead of Slashdot.

You would be helping to raise the level of discourse -- as well as
encouraging more people to read the article itself, where they can
actually see a discussion of Pardus.
Best of luck in your work -- your distribution embodies lots of great
ideas.
George.
