I see in the FAQ, that I must ask here, so I do it :-) Thank you, Guillaume. With 2008 using a newer kernel can we replace the current atl2 package with the one driver maintained by Red Hat? The current driver does not support newer kernels, however the driver maintained by Red Hat supports the latest kernels. It is currently included in the Fedora 8 kernel so I am going to pressume that it is stable enough for desktop usage. The driver can be found here; http://people.redhat.com/csnook/atl2/ Also what is the status of the Madwifi driver support for the wireless chipset used in the Asus Eee? I know there is a patch that allows it to work which is what I currently use. Whether this patch prevents support for other devices working I do not know, but there must be a way around this given that Mandriva 2008.1 ships with support for the Asus Eee out of the box. On a side note would it be possible to include the Ucview drivers in 2008 as these are required for the webcam (I do not think it works with the 2007 kernel). It would be nice if 2008 was released with good support for the Asus Eee, as it takes a little bit of work to have it functioning correctly. If we can have good support we can at least compete with Mandriva for out of the box Eee support. What do you think? Michael. The other bits like having the Fn keys working and having Suspend resume working are all detailed here; http://wiki.eeeuser.com/ubuntu The asus acpi packages used with the eee allow the system to report an accurate battery state and condition as well as enabling the fn keys. I try to remove the parameters "vga=791" but it's the same result (black screen). I change "vga=791" by "vga=ask" and I try all the 7 possibility, but it's the same conclusion. I change "vga=791" by "vga=normal" and I try all the 7 possibility, but it's the same conclusion. So I think it freeze the machine in fact because I can't go back to tty by the keys combinations: ctrl+alt+f1. I don't think the problem is in relation with the vga option, because if I'm right, the vga option is only for the frame buffer mode and the freeze appear only when X11 is started. Someone have an idea please ? :-) See you, Guillaume. --- Guillaume Dual? wrote: > Hi, > between my version of 2008 and the latest, is YALI updated ? > > Because, downloading is not easy for me, I have not Internet at home. > > See you, > Guillaume. > --- > Doruk Fisek wrote: >> Mon, 28 Apr 2008 14:37:38 +0200, Guillaume Dual? : >> >>> Hi, sorry for the inconvenience, but I was using the wrong CD... Yes it was but I'm not sure your problem's Yali related. So I cna help identify problems with 2008 now hopefully. With 2007.x releases I found the easiest method during install was to learn how many times tab needed to be pressed. After you move to each new screen pressing tab 3 times would move you to the 'next' button. Not so much Eee related but Ihave found a 'bug' in Yali keyboard selection. There is no British English option just welsh, which would fall under the British English option if there were one. I will report the big none the less. On a side note, how long is the latest snashots of 2008 taking to install on the Eee. I know the 2007.x releases took an awful long time to complete the install. My first install on the Eee took over an hour to complete (physical install time, unpacking packages and installing them). -- Michael Austin.
