It would be nice if it is tested though :) > And, another thing: the standard config op Apache isn't very practical (for > instance: doesn't support .htaccess passwords). On the website I will be providing various guides, e.g. Installing Crossover Office, various videos demonstrating Pardus Linux e.g. using Package-Manage. I will also be offering a small selection of Pardus Linux artwork e.g. splash screen and wallpapers and a small selection of packages (built from the playground repository, at present I only have Beryl available). I hope to have the site up and running soon, at the moment I am slowly adding content to the website. I also have the idea of offering all my guides as PDF files for people to archive. What are your opinions on this idea? Anyway, so hopefully this will be of use to someone. PDF idea is good instead of html webpage, so people can archive files to read next time. Also, documents you write as PDF can be copied to wiki when it's ready (since it's broken now) I suppose that you write PDF files and than copy it to wiki when we fix wiki webpage. (Un)fortunately Pardus has many tutorials in Turkish, which causes new developers and users to step back due to lack of support documentation. As there are more developers taking care of this business, I believe there will be a more magneto-effect for those who are new to Pardus. Great job, keep up the good work! As it reaches its "beta", please mention your web page on your blog so everyone sees the opportunity. The guides I will be writing are not translation from Turkish wiki documents. This is my own personal Pardus Linux site where I will be writing the guides my self from scratch, not translated from other documents. The guides will be basic ones aimed mainly at new users, simple administration tasks, installing and removing Crossover Office, maybe an hack or work around to overcome a bug etc. Or say setting up a icecast server or something similar. Once I have enough content I will be seperating the guides into two groups, administration/configuration (installing software, setting things up) guides and user guides (non admin/root related tasks etc) I am sorry if I gave the impression I will be translating from the wiki. But the perpose of this site is to also serve as something to put for job applications in the future etc as well as to give something back to the community. Not to mention for the learning experience, I do not really have a whole lot of experience with web development, so this site is my chance to develop my skills in this area etc, choosing to write the page in an editor with xhtml and css was the begining of this. I do have some future idea for the website. The primary one is once the site has out grown its current form where by it becomes unmanageable, to move the site over to a CMS like Joomla or Drupal etc (although this will be a long way off). Once again I am sorry if I have mislead people as to what this site will be about. The content will be my own simple guides I have written aimed at new and novice users of Pardus and Linux in general. I also forgot to mention, that the content on the site will also eventually find its way on the English pardus wiki at some point. It will just first appear on the website. ------------------------------- Visit my Pardus Linux website at: http://www.tuxedup.com -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I have stared toadd content to the website now. At present there are Beryl packages built from playground available, some Pardus Linux themes wallpapers and a guide to installing Crossover Office onto Pardus Linux. I am in the process of writing a guide to installing Google Picasa Linux onto Pardus Linux. In the near future I also plan on writing newcomers guide to using Pisi and the graphical package manager. I may possibly include an installation guide for Pardus Linux. I shall also at some point be including some tutorial videos for Pardus linux, these will cover and overview of Pardus Linux and videos focussing on the package manager (the videos will be split by task e.g. installing, removing and updating). Now for a little request, can you suggest guides I can write for new comers to Pardus to be included on the website. Examples are compiling software from source, a list of repositories, a general guide to theming the desktop. Pretty much anything a new user would like to know and do. Excluding guides like setting up a Mysql server, or setting up Apache and PHP, those are unsuitable for the website at present. I am focuing on new users to novice users at present with the website. Anyway, all requests for guides are welcome. Please can you also share your opinion on the website, do you like its appearance, is navigation difficult, is there anything you do not like about it etc. Dint be shy with your opinions, I wont know unless you tell me :) Also please note, all guides will eventually find there way over to the Pardus Linux English wiki in the future. At present I want to keep them on my website as it is my pet project and a way for me to give back to the community. And navbar blue is too light for a white background. - When the navbar and content divs differ in height, it is not visually appealing. Better put some sort of a control there. - Having a fixed width content div causes unnecessary scrolls. > Michael (Tuxedup) Necmettin (lopus)
